It was exciting to be given the opportunity to decorate a church wedding, following a Christmas theme. After all, there’s nothing like the Christmas spirit and festive season to cheer people up and immediately put them in a loving, giving, and happy mood.
Naturally, if you’ll be decorating a church, you will have to ask permission first from the parish office or officiating priest. Take note that some churches have strict rules and limitations when it comes to decors.
Here are 5 amazing décor ideas you’ll love for a Christmas theme inside any church:
1. Christmas wreaths and entrance arch
There are many different Christmas wreath designs you can find today. Have your pick among them so you can copy them into your church entrance arch or have your designer do it for you, just as we accomplished. Embellish the arch with beautiful blooms, pine cones, Christmas balls, ribbons, bells, and more!
You may also hang actual Christmas wreaths on the church doors or on the sides of the pews if allowed.
2. Bells, balls, and blooms
It’s quite appropriate that wedding bells are very symbolic of marriage ceremonies and look similar to Christmas bells. You can therefore play up this type of décor by placing the bells in the middle of wreaths or hanging them from your entrance arch. You can also incorporate them into your aisle decors.
In addition, Christmas balls come in various colors, shining and shimmering beautifully. Why not select those that go well with the wedding motif and place them along with the bells as ornamental pieces in the designs? And while you’re at it, add matching flowers too.
If you take a look at our aisle decors and the accents we placed on the couple’s chairs, we combined small bunches of flowers with Christmas balls and ribbons.
3. Gold and silver trimmings
We included a lot of gold and silver ribbon trimmings for our decors. This is because such colors are also highly associated with the Christmas season. They seem to make things illuminate with beauty and radiance while molding a sense of merriment.
4. Mini Christmas tree
You may also want to incorporate a mini Christmas tree near the main door of the church or by the side of the elevated platform in front of the church. It depends on the permission you get. This will definitely make the entire place more festive and bring out the Christmas spirit in everyone. Decorate your tree with beautiful ornaments and place pretend wrapped gifts underneath.
5. Red and green floral arrangements
Weddings are not complete without lovely floral arrangements. Hence, with this theme, it would be nice to incorporate a lot of red flowers mixed with greens. You can even use Poinsettia which is popular Christmas flower. Furthermore, you might want to incorporate white candles, pine cones, driftwood, and gold and silver ribbons with these arrangements.
You’ll find most of these ideas in the photos shown here. The church ceremony for the wedding felt extra special because of the Christmas spirit.

Isabell and the team, I must say you all have a great taste! I was so enjoy to have my wedding lunch there. Every single details and flowers are just way too lovely! The deco from Suffolk House entrance, marble hall, garden and all the way to dining room, it was a surprise to me! I was like open endless presents that were given to me on my big day. How I wish the day never end and I just want to carry all of them back to home haha. Once again, thank you very much!
